Smriti Pradhan

After completing my Bachelors, pursuing my MBA had always been my dream. I always wanted to do my Masters in UK or US. But, studying MBA outside Nepal is no joke. The course fee is very expensive and getting into a good university is also no joke. So, when I came across an advertisement for scholarship for Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (PGDMS) in Icon College of Technology and Management in London from WNSO-Nepal, I wanted to give it a try. I downloaded the application form from their website, but before filling it out, did a thorough research about the organization, college and the course. I didn’t want to be a victim of some bogus organization or college. Once I was completely satisfied with the college and organization, I submitted the form.

The selection process of WNSO for the scholarship program was very thorough and systematic. They did their best to ensure that only those that truly deserved the scholarship were selected. Many qualified applicants were applying for the scholarship, so I was a bit anxious whether I would be lucky enough to get through. So, when I heard the news that I had received the scholarship, I was overwhelmed with joy.

WNSO has been supportive to us, scholarship holders, from day one. They not only helped us get oriented with the life in London before coming here, but also assisted us through the visa application. Mr. Bharat Thapa and Mr. Tom Vickers came to Nepal especially to help us with the visa process. WNSO also wrote out a letter to the British Embassy in Nepal which showed the credibility of the organization and the scholarship.

My trip to London was my first ever outside Nepal, that too on my own. So, the thought was pretty scary for me. But, it helped a lot for us (me, Rajesh and Sulav, the other scholarship holders) to know that Bharat dai would be picking us up from the airport and would also help us in our stay here. Since coming here, WNSO has been very helpful in making our transition here very smooth and easy. From staying here to understanding the different procedures to be followed once you are in London, WNSO has been very accommodating.

Icon College of Technology and Management, being a small private college, has that homely feeling to it where every faculty member knows you by your name. The faculty at the college are very supportive and guides you through all aspects of your academics. The small number of students in a classroom, compared to that in the university, makes it easier to have a one-to-one interaction with the professors.

All in all, my stay here in London has been a pleasant one, all thanks to the help and support from WNSO. Moreover, I am also sure that I will be able to get my MBA from a good university and with good grades with the assistance that my college is providing me.
